About

John McGuigan was born in Chicago, IL at some point in the 1980′s. He mostly played indoors as a kid, which led to a working knowledge of HTML by the time he was 13, and a complete sci-fi feature film by the time he was 16. He admits he might not be the coolest of men, but he hopes that this will only encourage you to hire him to do something on a computer.

In the early 2000′s, John got his Bachelor’s of Arts in Digital Cinema at DePaul University. While there, he developed a variety of php-based websites to his and his friends’ student films (most notably Philosoraptor Productions), teaching himself many coding techniques along the way. CSS, PHP, Java, XML, SQL. Anything that was needed was learned by doing. In retrospect, he should perhaps have made digital cinema in his spare time, and programmed as his major, since the thing with all the math probably leads to steadier employment, but these are the thoughts of an older, wiser John McGuigan.

After college, he worked on a variety of freelance jobs, always trying to do something a little beyond his current knowledge base, in the hope that his programming abilities would grow. Currently, he works at a furniture company, developing the extensive new store website. He’s also created a facebook app for the company, as well as half a dozen designer portfolios.

In conclusion, he has a RESUME. If you read it, and want to pay him to work on a website, he will probably be happy to do it.
